Techician Job Description

General Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Technician in the automotive industry.
  • High school diploma, equivalent or in progress.
  • A valid driver’s license. (Issued in state of employment.)
  • Demonstrate a minimal knowledge, understanding and technical proficiency at performing effective auto repair and maintenance
  • Must be willing and able to gain ASE certification and must maintain ASE certification in the eight areas pertaining to automotive repair, A1 through A8.
  • Possess and maintain tools necessary to effectively perform all repairs and maintenance of all makes and models of vehicles, foreign and domestic.
  • Possess the ability to read, write legibly, and speak fluent English.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a neat appearance.
    • Uniform shirts must be tucked in at all times.
    • Maintain clean and proper hygiene, especially working in close quarters with other employees and customers.
    • Wear safety toe boots

Possess the ability and demonstrate a willingness to do the following:

  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Assume responsibility
  • Be dependable
  • Have and use problem solving skills
  • Use and show proficiency with computers and using the internet
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all other personnel.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license, Clean driving record
  • At a minimum, possess intermediate computer skills and the ability to use required computer programs to get the job done
  • Use a copier, fax, and calculator, and understand basic math
  • Be fluent in email, texting, and other forms of electronic communication
  • Take all required company training courses
  • Be punctual
  • Have transportation that is reliable, regardless of the season
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team

Ensure Customer Satisfaction and a Positive Customer Experience

  • Greet all customers in person and on the phone promptly and courteously with a smile and a positive tone of voice
  • Maintain a positive and helpful attitude throughout all customer interactions
  • Work with customers to schedule adequate time for repairs/maintenance
  • Complete Work Orders and estimates thoroughly and accurately
  • Arrange for alternate transportation for customers as needed
  • Notify customers up front of all testing and evaluation charges
  • Offer financing options as appropriate
  • Keep customers informed of vehicle repair process and any price changes
  • Document every customer authorization on every work order, written or electronic
  • Clearly and concisely explain to customers what is wrong with the vehicle, what is required to repair it, and how the repairs will benefit the customer. Give options on repairs (new, used, rebuilt parts) Be able to demonstrate value in every presentation to customers
